Deadlock Between Government and Opposition Ends

The deadlock between the government and the opposition over the Anti-Paper Leak Bill has finally ended. The bill will now be discussed in the Lok Sabha. Earlier, Speaker Om Birla had appealed to both the ruling party and the opposition to build consensus on the bill and work toward resolving the impasse.

A positive outcome has emerged from Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla’s initiative and the continuous dialogue maintained in the House. The Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Bill, 2026, will now be discussed in Parliament on Tuesday.

During the proceedings of the House, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla had urged all political parties to recognize that this issue concerns millions of students, young people, and the transparency of competitive examinations across the country. Therefore, he said, it deserves a broad and meaningful discussion.

During Tuesday’s debate, various political parties may also present their suggestions and proposed amendments to the provisions of the bill. After the discussion, the government will respond to these suggestions, following which the bill will be presented to the House for approval.(updated on 27th july 2026)
