“If he couldn’t become PM, he went and sat outside the PM’s residence”

In the Lok Sabha today, Union Minister Jitendra Singh targeted Rahul Gandhi. He said that Rahul Gandhi used abusive language and lacks experience in public life. Since Rahul Gandhi could not become Prime Minister, he went and sat outside the Prime Minister’s residence.

Narrating the entire episode involving Rahul Gandhi, he said, “The abusive words used by the Leader of the Opposition are unparliamentary. Even if the honorable member thinks of himself as an idiot, he cannot use such language. He is not aware of the rules. If he was not using those words for a particular individual, then were those words meant for students? And if students are being called idiots, nothing could be more unfortunate than that.”

The Union Minister said that when Rahul Gandhi claimed that the order to open fire was given by the Home Minister, he could not provide any evidence. He added that the order to open fire is issued not by a minister but by a magistrate, District Magistrate (DM), or Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM). According to him, Rahul lacks experience in public life as well. He said no firing took place; tear gas was used. Rahul Gandhi also claimed that Amit Shah was traveling with a convoy of 30 vehicles. The minister said Rahul does not know that the Home Minister does not travel with a convoy of 30 vehicles and that Shah has not gone abroad. Making such irresponsible statements in the House without facts and then leaving, he said, is not behavior befitting a Leader of the Opposition.

The Union Minister further said that on July 21, the Leader of the Opposition went and sat outside the Prime Minister’s residence. “His desire is for the country to make him Prime Minister. But when that dream did not come true, he went and sat outside the PM’s residence. When he was requested to leave, he said that he had been forcibly removed. Initially, he did not join the protest because he thought it was an Aam Aadmi Party movement. But later he experienced FOMO (fear of missing out).” (UPDATED ON 29TH JULY 2026)
