Heavy rain in Gurugram,offices to allow work-from-home

Gurugram’s administration has asked offices to allow work-from-home (WFH) and schools to teach online mode after heavy rain today overwhelmed the city’s infrastructure yet again.

Though it rained for only an hour, residents of the ‘Millenium City’ – known for its high-end flats, big malls and offices – have complained that the collapse of civic infrastructure keeps repeating every time it rains for a slightly longer duration.

The district administration said Gurugram received 70 mm of rainfall by 1.30 pm. Key areas including Rajiv Chowk, IFFCO Chowk, Railway Road, Sector 5, Old Delhi Road, Mehrauli Road and Basai Road were some of the most affected. (updated on 24th August 2026)
