CBI files chargesheet in NEET paper leak case

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a chargesheet against 13 accused arrested in the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak case. The accused have been charged under various provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including criminal conspiracy, cheating, criminal breach of trust, and destruction of evidence, as well as criminal misconduct under the Prevention of Corruption Act and the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024.

In its chargesheet, the CBI has listed 360 witnesses, 422 documents, and 43 physical pieces of evidence (Material Objects). All 13 accused named in the chargesheet are currently in judicial custody. The matter is scheduled for a hearing in Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court on Wednesday. Prime Minister Modi had recently stated that the case should be heard in a fast-track court.

Raids were conducted at 92 locations across several states, including Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Haryana, and Delhi, where digital and communication devices, documents, and other incriminating materials were seized. All of these were subjected to forensic imaging and analysis.

The investigation also revealed that several middlemen obtained the leaked question paper and distributed it further. A number of these middlemen have also been arrested. In addition, two individuals associated with coaching institutes were arrested for obtaining the leaked question paper from these experts..(UPDATED ON 28TH JULY 2026)
