On Hormuz Crisis-PM Modi Holds Major Meeting with Ministers

In view of the rising tensions in West Asia and the situation related to the Strait of Hormuz, the Union government has gone on full alert. On this issue, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a high-level meeting with senior ministers and officials. The meeting included detailed discussions on key issues such as the country’s energy security, fertilizer availability, the safety of Indian seafarers, and the impact on exports. The Prime Minister made it clear that under no circumstances would ordinary citizens or farmers be allowed to face difficulties.

According to a TV channel, during the meeting, Prime Minister Modi said that the safety of every Indian seafarer working anywhere in the world is the government’s highest priority. He said it makes no difference whether they are serving on an Indian ship or a foreign vessel. If needed, the government will provide every possible assistance.

The Hormuz crisis could have its greatest impact on the supply of crude oil and gas. Keeping this in mind, the Prime Minister reviewed the preparedness of the Petroleum Ministry. He emphasized accelerating the use of PNG (Piped Natural Gas) across the country so that energy supplies remain strong and the impact of any potential crisis can be minimized.

The meeting also discussed preparations in the agricultural sector. The Prime Minister stated that sufficient fertilizer stocks are available for the upcoming Rabi crop. At the same time, work is underway to build fertilizer reserves for the 2027 Kharif crop. The government’s objective is to ensure that farmers do not face any shortage of fertilizers.

The Hormuz crisis could also affect India’s export business. Accordingly, the meeting discussed possible measures to provide relief to exporters. The impact of the crisis on the country’s economy was also assessed. The government indicated that, if necessary, timely steps would be taken. It stated that it is continuously monitoring global developments.
