Missing Indian Crew Members Confirmed Dead In MT Settebello Incident Off Oman Coast

All three Indian seafarers who were initially reported missing after the tragic incident aboard the commercial vessel Palau-flagged MT Settebello have now been confirmed dead. The tanker was hit off the coast of Oman in a suspected US missile strike. In a social media post, Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal said bodies of three seafarers have been located and identified.

Mr Sonowal expressed grief over the tragic incident and described it as a profound loss to the maritime community. He said that the Government stands firmly with the bereaved families during this difficult time. He assured that all necessary support would be extended to the next of kin of the deceased.

The Minister further stated that he has directed officials to ensure the immediate repatriation of the rescued crew members and the swift return of the mortal remains of the deceased to India for their final rites.

According to media reports, before “”attack-dead “” one of three indians Aditya Sharma, sent a WhatsApp text to his father, saying he’s fine. An hour later, he was dead. The family got to know about him only last night. Twenty three-year-old Aditya Sharma was one among three Indian crew sailors who were killed after the US military struck Palau-flagged MT Settebello in the Gulf of Oman, accusing it of violating an American blockade by attempting to transport oil from Iran.(upated on 11th June 2026)
