Workshop of the National Children’s Science Congress organses
The two-day state-level orientation workshop for district coordinators, organized under the National Children’s Science Congress, concluded successfully at Eklavya Foundation, Bhopal. District coordinators from various districts of Madhya Pradesh participated in the workshop.
The National Children’s Science Congress is organized at the national level by the National Council for Science and Technology Communication, Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, New Delhi, while the state-level organization and coordination in Madhya Pradesh is being carried out by the Science Center (Gwalior), Madhya Pradesh.
The valedictory session was chaired by senior writer, litterateur, and editor Shriram Maheshwari. The chief guest of the program was Manoj Nigam, Executive Officer and Coordinator of Eklavya Foundation, Bhopal. Dr. Shekhar Sarabhai guided the participants as the subject expert. The program was coordinated by Mrs. Sandhya Verma, Secretary and State Coordinator of the Science Center (Gwalior), Madhya Pradesh.
In his presidential address, Shriram Maheshwari said that to develop a scientific temperament among children, they should be given opportunities to ask questions, understand local problems, and find solutions through the scientific method. He stated that with proper guidance and encouragement, the ideas of young scientists can lead to innovations that are beneficial to society.
Chief Guest Manoj Nigam said that the National Children’s Science Congress provides children with an important platform to go beyond textbooks, understand their surroundings, and conduct research on real-world problems. He urged the district coordinators to involve as many children, teachers, and schools as possible in this initiative.
Subject expert Dr. Shekhar Sarabhai highlighted the importance of the scientific method in project development, including problem identification, hypothesis formulation, systematic data collection, analysis, and evidence-based conclusions.
He requested all district coordinators to provide the necessary support to young scientists and mentor teachers in their respective districts. At the closing ceremony, certificates were presented to all participating district coordinators and attendees. The participants resolved to effectively implement the activities of the National Children’s Science Congress in their districts and to connect as many children as possible with scientific research and innovation.
