Sarnath Inscribed On UNESCO World Heritage List; PM Modi Calls It A Proud Moment
The ancient Buddhist site of Sarnath has been inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Welcoming the inscription of Uttar Pradesh’s Sarnath on the UNESCO World Heritage List, Prime Minister Narendra Modi described it as a proud moment for every Indian.
In a social media post, PM Modi said that Sarnath has a close association with Lord Buddha, whose timeless message of wisdom, compassion, and harmony continues to inspire the world. He added that the recognition celebrates India’s profound civilisational and spiritual heritage. The Prime Minister said that the inscription would inspire more people from across the world to visit Sarnath and connect with the ideals of Lord Buddha.
Culture and Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat described the inscription as a defining moment for India’s cultural heritage. In a social media post, Mr Shekhawat said that Sarnath is a timeless beacon of peace, wisdom, and compassion. He said that it reflects the profound spiritual and philosophical contributions of Indian civilisation to humanity.
