Madan Mitra, MLA from the Mamata Banerjee faction, resigned from the party.

Dealing a blow to the Mamata Banerjee faction, MLA Madan Mitra resigned from the party and joined the rebel TMC faction led by opposition leader Ritabrata Banerjee. After joining the rebel faction, Madan Mitra said on Wednesday that the Mamata Banerjee faction’s TMC is more focused on promoting MP Abhishek Banerjee than on strengthening the organization.

Madan Mitra said that he resigned from Mamata Banerjee’s TMC because he was unable to work effectively. He stated that the party leadership paid no attention to his concerns. Many of Mamata Banerjee’s old associates are leaving the party because, in my view, the leadership is focused on promoting Abhishek Banerjee rather than strengthening the organization. TMC is not the party of any one individual.
