CM Adityanath’s Ayodhya visit Champat Rai asked to stay away

Amid the major controversy over alleged theft of offerings at the Shree Ram Temple, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will visit Ayodhya tomorrow, June 19. CM Yogi will offer prayers at the Ram Temple. Meanwhile, Shree Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust General Secretary Champat Rai has been asked to stay away from the Chief Minister’s entire program.

In the protocol prepared by the Ayodhya administration for CM Yogi’s visit, point number 29 clearly states that Champat Rai should arrange for someone else to manage the Chief Minister’s darshan and worship arrangements at the Shri Ram Temple. Whoever he nominates in his place should have their details provided to the temple magistrate. In other words, the message is very clear that Champat Rai should not be seen with Yogi Adityanath.

On Wednesday, the SIT questioned the Trust’s General Secretary Champat Rai and administrator Gopal Rao. Official sources said that the investigation team also questioned those responsible for counting donation money and maintaining the Trust’s records. Both Rai and Rao were questioned about donation funds, arrangements inside the temple, and the people associated with them. Sources said that SIT members, including Lucknow Divisional Commissioner Vijay Vishwas Pant, Inspector General of Police (IG) Kiran S, and Special Secretary (Finance) Neel Ratan, questioned Rai and Rao separately. During this process, officials associated with security agencies were kept away.(UPDATED ON 18TH JUNE 2026)
