India Emerges As Sixth-Largest Electronics Exporter, Says Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw

Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw today said India has emerged as a major electronics manufacturing hub and is now the world’s sixth-largest exporter of electronics. He was speaking after inaugurating the new manufacturing facility of US-based company Jabil at Ranjangaon MIDC in Pune. Mr Vaishnaw said that under the leadership of PM Modi, India has transformed into a global electronics manufacturing destination and is exporting products to markets across the world. He said the country aims to become the world’s second-largest electronics exporter in the coming years.

The Minister said two semiconductor plants are currently under development in the country and the number will rise to four by the end of this year. He also announced plans to begin manufacturing mechanical precision parts in Pune to strengthen the electronics and semiconductor supply chain. Mr Vaishnaw credited Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis for land reforms that have helped attract major investments to the state.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said Maharashtra continues to lead the country’s digital infrastructure growth, with nearly sixty per cent of India’s data centre capacity located in the state. He said Maharashtra remains the preferred destination for technology and infrastructure investments.

Mr Fadnavis also expressed confidence in the success of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project, saying it will help create one of India’s largest economic corridors. Referring to the upcoming Wadhvan Port project, he said it is expected to be among the world’s ten biggest ports and will significantly boost transport, export-import activities and industrial growth in the region.।(UPDATED ON 17TH JUNE 2026)
