VP Releases Book Named Agatthiyar

Vice President CP Radhakrishnan has said that the country’s unity is not a contemporary construct but an ancient civilisational reality nurtured over thousands of years by sages and enlightened thinkers. Releasing a book named Agatthiyar – The Unifier at Uprashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi, the Vice President said the publication highlights the enduring legacy of Sage Agatthiyar and the deep-rooted cultural unity that has bound Bharat together for millennia.

Speaking on the civilisational unity of Bharat, Mr Radhakrishnan observed that while kings and political institutions are often remembered in discussions on national integration, the true architects of the nation’s unity were its sages and rishis. He said, Agatthiyar stands out as one of the greatest symbols of the country’s cultural and spiritual unity.

The Vice President also praised Kalaimagal magazine for bringing out the book. He noted that the magazine has been serving with distinction for more than 95 years, preserving and promoting Tamil literature, culture and heritage for future generations. He recalled that several Tamil scholars, historians, scientists and national leaders had enriched the quality and credibility of the magazine through their writings. (UPDATED ON 16TH JUNE 2026)
