The first commercial flight took off from Noida Airport; an IndiGo aircraft departed carrying 172 farmers

The dream that people of western Uttar Pradesh had been waiting for over the last five years was finally fulfilled on Monday. The first commercial flight from Noida International Airport (Jewar Airport) took off, creating history. An IndiGo aircraft departed for Lucknow carrying 172 farmers. These were the same farmers who had given their land for the airport’s construction. Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu was also present on this historic occasion.
The first commercial flight from Noida International Airport departed for Lucknow. A special aspect of this flight was that it included the farmers who had contributed their land to this mega project. After arriving in Lucknow, the farmers were introduced to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
On this occasion, Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu said that this was an extremely important and historic day for the country’s aviation sector. He stated that the farmers were included on the inaugural flight to honor their contribution. The minister also announced that flight services from Noida Airport to four cities were beginning from today. In addition to Lucknow, operations have also started for Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Amritsar.
Ram Mohan Naidu expressed confidence that in the coming years, Noida International Airport would become one of the top five airports in the country. He said that the airport would not only benefit Uttar Pradesh but would also provide a major boost to connectivity across northern India.
The expansion of Noida International Airport will be carried out in phases. From July 1, regular flights to 16 cities are planned to begin from the airport. These include major cities such as Jaipur, Bhopal, Chandigarh, Bareilly, Dehradun, Lucknow, and Navi Mumbai. Initially, IndiGo and Akasa Air will operate their services from the airport.(updated on 15th june 2026)
