No Place For Double Standards On Terrorism

There is no solution on the battlefield and all wars and conflicts should be resolved through dialogue and diplomacy, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said at the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit in Kyrgyzstan today.

The regional grouping SCO’s summit comes amid the war in the Middle East that has affected global energy supply lines and many economies.

PM Modi, in the presence of Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin, also called for fighting terrorism unitedly.

“We must speak with one voice that there can be no place for double standards on terrorism,” he said in the same hall where his Pakistani counterpart Shehbaz Sharif was present. “We must dismantle the entire ecosystem of terrorism, its financing, recruitment, radicalisation and safe havens.”

Mr Modi expressed concern over the ongoing conflicts in different parts of the world. He said, wars and conflicts are not a solution to any problem and all disputes should be resolved through dialogue and diplomacy.

The Prime Minister said, India supports all efforts that connect markets, facilitate trade and open new avenues for development. However, he stressed that such efforts must fully respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all countries.

Mr Modi said, India had proposed the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Civilisation Dialogue Forum last year. He expressed happiness that its first session will be held in India this year.

After attending the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Summit, Prime Minister Modi concluded his two-day visit to Kyrgyzstan and departed from Bishkek for New Delhi this afternoon.<>(UPDATED ON 1ST SEPTEMBER 2026)
