Anurag Jain appointed as the new CEO of NITI Aayog

Senior IAS officer Anurag Jain of the Madhya Pradesh cadre (1989 batch) and the current Chief Secretary has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of NITI Aayog.
Anurag Jain will serve as the CEO of NITI Aayog for the next two years from the date he assumes charge. He is currently the Chief Secretary of Madhya Pradesh. He was appointed as the state’s Chief Secretary on October 3, 2024. After his retirement in 2025, he was granted a one-year extension, under which his existing tenure was scheduled to continue until August 31, 2026. The Central Government has now entrusted him with the important responsibility of leading NITI Aayog.
Following the departure of outgoing Madhya Pradesh Chief Secretary Anurag Jain to NITI Aayog, senior IAS officer Ashok Varnwal (1991 batch) has been appointed as the new Acting Chief Secretary of Madhya Pradesh. The state’s General Administration Department has issued the official order in this regard. His appointment has been made with immediate effect on a temporary basis until further orders.
