The Lucknow–Kanpur National Expressway (NE-6) inaugurated.

Uttar Pradesh has today received an important expressway connecting its two major cities. On Monday, Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurated the Lucknow–Kanpur National Expressway (NE-6), which connects the state capital Lucknow with Kanpur. On this special occasion, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath were also present at the inauguration ceremony.
Via the Lucknow–Kanpur Expressway, it will take only 35 to 45 minutes to travel from the state capital to Kanpur. Currently, the journey from Lucknow to Kanpur can take up to 3 hours.
On this expressway connecting Lucknow and Kanpur, the maximum speed limit has been set at 120 km/h for cars and 80 km/h for heavy vehicles. All types of two-wheelers and three-wheelers are prohibited on the expressway.
The Lucknow–Kanpur National Expressway (NE-6) is 63 kilometers long. It is a 6-lane expressway, built at an approximate cost of ?4,200 crore. The expressway begins at Shaheed Path in Lucknow and ends at Chakeri in Kanpur.(UPDATED ON 13TH JULY 2026)
