PM Modi Inaugurates ₹7,500 Crore Semiconductor OSAT Facility In Gujarat

In a major boost to the India Semiconductor Mission, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the CG Semi Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test (OSAT) facility at Sanand, in Gujarat, this evening. Developed under the India Semiconductor Mission with an investment of over 7,500 crore rupees, the facility marks a major milestone in the country’s tech manufacturing journey. Immediately upon reaching Sanand, the Prime Minister toured the high-tech plant and inspected the production process. The PM also interacted closely with the engineers and operators working inside the facility.
Once fully ramped up, the facility will have an annual production capacity of up to 5 billion semiconductor chips. It will also help address the growing global demand for memory and storage solutions.
On the inauguration of CG Semi Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test facility, Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology, Ashwini Vaishnaw, said, the chips manufactured at this plant will be used in cars, scooters, and various industrial applications. He said that most significantly chips made in India, at this facility, will be exported to Japan, America, and Europe. Indian technology will earn global acclaim.
