PM Modi receives Slovakia’s highest honour, awarded the ‘Order of the White Double Cross’

Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Slovakia, an important European country, on Monday. During the visit, bilateral talks were also held between PM Modi and Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico. In this bilateral meeting, India and Slovakia reached agreements on several issues, including defence and trade deals. It is noteworthy that PM Modi is the first Indian Prime Minister to visit Slovakia since the country gained independence in 1993. During this visit, Slovakia honoured PM Modi with its highest civilian award, the ‘Order of the White Double Cross (First Class)’.
Slovakia has conferred its highest honour, the ‘Order of the White Double Cross (First Class)’, on Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Slovak President Peter Pellegrini presented him with the award. The Order of the White Double Cross (First Class) is Slovakia’s highest state honour. It is awarded by the President of Slovakia to distinguished foreign personalities. The award is given for exceptional contributions to the development of friendly relations with Slovakia, as well as for supporting the country’s foreign policy interests and enhancing its international standing. This is the 33rd international honour conferred on PM Modi by a foreign country.(updated on 15th june 2026)
