Well-Educated & Skilled Population Key To Success: NITI Aayog Chairperson Ashok Lahiri

NITI Aayog Vice Chairperson Ashok Kumar Lahiri said that 11th Governing Council Meeting of NITI Aayog was held at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi today in which Chief Ministers of all the 28 States participated. Briefing media after the conclusion of the Governing Council meeting, Mr Lahiri said that during the meeting, NITI Aayog benefited from the insightful comments of the Chief Ministers and the work done in their States. Mr Lahiri informed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke at length during the meeting. He said, topic of the meeting was -Inclusive Human Development for Viksit Bharat @2047 and it covers all aspects of life including education, health and employment. Mr Lahiri emphasised that a well educated and skilled population is the key to success.
In reply to a question on West Asia crisis, Mr Lahiri said that India is playing its role and Ministry of External Affairs is discharging its role in this situation.He said, India continues to advance confidently on its growth trajectory even as tensions in West Asia raise global concerns. He emphasised to keep doing work towards the development of human capital. He said, a lot of discussion took place on energy security while laying emphasis on expansion of solar and nuclear energy.
NITI Aayog Member Rajiv Gauba also informed that the issue of urbanisation and the need to have planned urbanisation also came up for discussion in the meeting. He said, NITI Aayog has been working with the Ministries to prepare an agenda for transforming urban governance.
NITI Aayog Member Prof K V Raju informed that during the meeting, Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged all the Chief Ministers to develop GDP estimation at district level..(upated on 11th June 2026)
