HM Amit Shah Asks NE CMs To Focus On AI, Machine Learning For New Generations

Union Home Minister Amit Shah today instructed the Chief Ministers of North Eastern states to shift the focus from law and order to shielding the rights of citizens, as insurgency is no longer an issue. He also directed states to build AI, machine learning and blockchain infrastructure for new generations. Mr Shah said that he also instructed to market the Northeast’s potential in agarwood, foreign trade and health tourism.

In the NEC meeting, the Home Minister said that the Narendra Modi government ended era of violence in Northeast and transformed the region from a hotspot of disputes to a hotspot of opportunities. After attending the 73rd Plenary Session of the North Eastern Council (NEC) in Shillong , Mr Shah, on Social Media platform X, said today NEC is serving as an institution for strategic planning for the development of region while fulfilling people’s aspirations and promoting culture.
Union Minister of the Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) Jyotiraditya Scindia, also attended the NEC, said all the leaders are united in their resolve to create a stronger and more prosperous northeast.
The plenary session of NEC brought together distinguished leaders, including governors, chief ministers and policymakers from across the northeastern region here.
NEC in a post on X, said, governors, chief ministers, deputy chief ministers, and senior officials assembled for the plenary deliberations. All the leaders reaffirmed their collective commitment to the growth, connectivity and prosperity of the northeast.
Speaking about the Session, the host Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Conrad K Sangma stated that as per the Union Home and DoNER Ministers directions to each of the eight Chief Ministers of the northeastern states, they work together to achieve the common goal.

The Plenary Session discussed and deliberated on the progress made by the Chief Ministers’ High-Level Task Forces. Subjects important to the Northeast region were presented, including the agriculture-related task force, the tourism-related task force, infrastructure, and sports.(UPDATED ON 4TH JUNE 2026)
