Annapurna Devi met with Savithri Paulraj, Minister of Sri Lanka

The Union Minister of Women and Child Development, Government of India, Smt. Annapurna Devi, today met with Mrs. Saroja Savithri Paulraj, Minister of Women and Child Affairs, Government of Sri Lanka, and members of the Women Parliamentarians Caucus of Sri Lanka, at the Conference Room of Ministry of Women and Child Development in GPOA, Block 3, New Delhi.

The visit of the Women Parliamentarians Caucus of Sri Lanka to India follows the discussions between Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Hon’ble President Anura Kumara Dissanayake during the latter’s State Visit to India in December 2024.

During the meeting, the delegation was briefed on India’s key initiatives for women-led development. Smt. Annpurna Devi underlined India’s approach of viewing women not as passive beneficiaries of welfare but as active agents of national development, and highlighted India’s legislative, programmatic and institutional commitment to women’s empowerment.

The meeting concluded with the presentation of mementos to the Sri Lanka delegation, followed by a group photograph.(UPDATED ON 13TH MAY 2026)
