Opposition Gives Notice Of No-Confidence Against Speaker,Birla will not go to Lok Sabha

The Opposition has given notice of a no-confidence motion against the Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla. Opposition has submitted the notice to the Secretary General of the Lok Sabha. Sources added that the notice will be examined and processed as per rules.
On Tuesday, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla directed the House’s Secretary General Utpal Kumar Singh to examine the notice moved by the opposition parties seeking his removal from the post.
The opposition has accused Speaker Om Birla of running the House in a partisan manner, making false allegations against Congress MPs and misusing his position.
The opposition has alleged that they respect the Speaker of the Lok Sabha personally. However, they are deeply hurt and distressed by the manner in which he has consistently attempted to suppress the voice of the opposition.
The notice regarding bringing a motion to remove Speaker Om Birla from the post was submitted to the Lok Sabha Secretary General by Congress Deputy Leader Gaurav Gogoi, Congress Chief Whip Kodikunnil Suresh and Whip Mohammad Javed.
This notice has been signed by more than 100 MPs from Congress, Samajwadi Party, DMK and many other opposition parties.However, Trinamool Congress MPs have not signed the notice, which has been submitted under Article 94(c) of the Constitution.(UPDATED ON 10TH FEBRUARY 2026)
