Studying USA Developments after court verdict on Tariffs–Ministry

The Commerce and Industry Ministry today said it has noted the US Supreme Court judgement on tariffs and is studying all these developments for their implications. “We have noted the US Supreme Court judgement on tariffs yesterday (Friday). US President Donald Trump has also addressed a press conference in this regard,” it said.

The Ministry, in a statement, said that US President Donald Trump has also addressed a press conference in that regard. It added that some steps have been announced by the US Administration.

On Friday, the conservative-majority high court ruled six to three that a 1977 law Trump has relied on to slap sudden rates on individual countries, upending global trade, “does not authorise the President to impose tariffs.”

Trump, who had nominated two of the justices who repudiated him, responded furiously, alleging without evidence that the court was influenced by foreign interests.(UPDATED ON 21ST FEBRUARY 2026)
