NHRC, India’s Online Short-Term Internship Programme for August 2026 concludes

The two-week Online Short-Term Internship Programme (OSTI) of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), India concluded today with 96 university-level students completing it. The programme began on 3rd August 2026. The interns were shortlisted out of 2,036 applicants from 21 states and union territories across the country.
Addressing the valedictory session, NHRC Member, Smt. Vijaya Bharathi Sayani congratulated the interns on the successful completion of the programme. She emphasised the importance of “Seva” (service) as an integral part of India’s social and cultural ethos.
Before this, NHRC Joint Secretary, Smt. Saidingpuii Chhakchhuak presented an overview of the internship programme in which interns had the opportunity to interact with NHRC Members, senior NHRC officers, as well as eminent experts, academicians, Core Group members and representatives of civil society organisations. She also announced the winners of competitions, including book review, group research project presentation and declamation. NHRC Joint Secretary, Samir Kumar, Deputy Secretary, Smt.
