Scindia with Dr. Mohan Yadav jointly chair investor and strategic roundtables in Mumbai

The Department of Telecommunications (DoT), Ministry of Communications, Government of India in collaboration with the Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI), organised two important industry engagements in Mumbai today to advance the proposed Telecom Manufacturing Zone (TMZ) coming up in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh.
Both engagements were jointly chaired by Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, Union Minister of Communications and Development of North Eastern Region and Dr. Mohan Yadav, Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh along with Amit Agrawal, Secretary, Department of Telecommunications. Both meetings mark a significant milestone in strengthening India’s first-of-its-kind Telecom Manufacturing Zone (TMZ) in Gwalior.
The first engagement was an Investor Roundtable focused on attracting investment and greater industry participation in the proposed Telecom Manufacturing Zone (TMZ) in Gwalior. Leading telecom and electronics companies, including Qualcomm, NTT DATA, Jio and other leading companies participated in the investor roundtable. Discussions focused on the investment potential of the TMZ, strengthening domestic manufacturing capabilities, promoting exports, reducing import dependence and creating a globally competitive telecom and electronics manufacturing ecosystem.
Dr. Mohan Yadav, said, “I would like to thank all the officials involved in this project. This important project is a joint step between Government of Madhya Pradesh and Union Government in the field of telecommunications. Madhya Pradesh has emerged as the top choice for set up industry especially related to manufacturing. With this in mind, I would like to invite you all to come and invest in Madhya Pradesh.”
Amit Agrawal, Secretary, Department of Telecommunications, highlighted that “Telecom Manufacturing Zone (TMZ) is a unique and first of its kind facility that has been envisioned jointly by the Government of Madhya Pradesh and Union Ministry of Communications.
In the first roundtable held in Delhi, investment commitments worth ₹3,500 crore and 14,000 job opportunities were assured by the industry for the Telecom Manufacturing Zone.
The TMZ will be established through a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) with 51% equity from the Government of Madhya Pradesh and 49% from the Department of Telecommunications.(updated on 4th August 2026)
