President approves amendments to anti-paper leak law

The President has approved a bill amending the anti-paper leak law. With this, the punishment provisions in the paper leak law have become even more stringent. According to the new provision, verdicts in paper leak cases will be delivered within three months. Those found guilty will face up to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to 10 crore rupees.

The amendment bill was passed by the Lok Sabha after much uproar. Following the bill’s passage, the Education Minister wrote in a post on X, “The Lok Sabha has passed the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026, which will create a strict legal framework to deal with malpractices in examinations.
