Recognition to 6 rebel MPs from Uddhav’s SS; seating arrangement for 20 TMC MPs
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla has recognized the move of six rebel MPs from Uddhav’s Shiv Sena to the Shinde faction. This means that the six rebel MPs from Shiv Sena (UBT) can now join Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena. Following approval from the Lok Sabha Secretariat, the path has been cleared for these rebel MPs to move to the Shinde faction. After the Speaker’s decision, the Shinde faction’s strength in the Lok Sabha has increased, taking its total number of MPs in the lower house to 13.
The six rebel MPs from Shiv Sena (UBT), whose merger with the Shinde faction was opposed by Uddhav Thackeray, are: Sanjay Jadhav from Parbhani; Sanjay Dina Patil from Mumbai North-East; Omraj Nimbalkar from Osmanabad/Dharashiv; Nagesh Patil Ashtikar from Hingoli; Sanjay Uttamrao Deshmukh from Yavatmal-Washim; and Bhausaheb Wakchaure from Shirdi.
On the success of “Operation Tiger,” Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said, “…The people who are joining us are doing so because of trust. Whether they are MPs or the many others who have joined us over the past 3–4 years, they have complete faith in Shiv Sena, in me, and in our team. They know that we keep our promises and stand by our word… We do not work to break parties or create divisions. We are people who bring others together. We are here to ensure justice for the people of their constituencies and to help them fulfill their responsibilities toward the public. We will certainly extend our full support to them…”
Along with this, the Speaker has also approved a separate seating arrangement in the Lok Sabha for 20 MPs who left Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress and merged with NCPI. It is worth noting that NCPI has been given the status of a separate group. Earlier, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju had also invited Sudip Bandyopadhyay and Kakoli Ghosh to the all-party meeting as NCPI leaders. This decision is being seen as a major setback for Mamata Banerjee.(UPDATED ON 18TH JULY 2026)
