Government Is Ensuring Development And National Security Together

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has emphasised that the government’s endeavour is to build an India where the borders are not only secure but also well connected. He said the government is ensuring that development and national security progress together.
Addressing the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) Tech Symposium in New Delhi, Mr Singh said advanced infrastructure has always been the hallmark of a developed civilisation. He added that the infrastructure being built today will define the country’s civilisation in the years to come. He said the government’s aim is to ensure that no citizen living in remote areas feels cut off from the mainstream.
The Defence Minister said infrastructure development is not solely the responsibility of the government. He urged industry, academia, engineers and administrators to collectively build an ecosystem that fosters excellence. Mr Singh said landmark projects such as the Atal Tunnel in Rohtang, the world’s highest motorable road at Umling La and the Sela Tunnel, built at an altitude of nearly 13 thousand feet, are living testimonials to the BRO’s capabilities. Terming these achievements as engineering marvels, he emphasised that, alongside the dedication and hard work of BRO personnel, the continuous adoption of technology is equally important. He lauded the BRO as a frontline organisation in technological innovation and adaptation.(UPDATED ON 16TH JULY 2026)
