Iran has invited world leaders to the funeral of Ayatollah Khamenei.

Iran has officially announced the funeral arrangements for its former Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. According to the information, the funeral will be held from July 5 to July 9. It may be recalled that Ayatollah Khamenei died on February 28, 2026, in a U.S. and Israeli attack. Now that the war between the United States and Iran has come to a halt and talks are underway, his funeral will be conducted.

Invitations have been sent to leaders from around the world to attend Ayatollah Khamenei’s funeral. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi was also invited to the event. However, it has been decided that, instead of Prime Minister Modi, Bihar Governor Syed Ata Hasnain and Minister of State for External Affairs Pavitra Margherita will represent the Government of India at the funeral.

Preparations for the funeral of Iran’s former Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, are being carried out on a massive scale. It is being claimed that around 200 million people will attend the funeral. Along with Prime Minister Modi, Iran has also invited several other Indian leaders to attend the funeral. These leaders are: BJP President Nitin Nabin /// Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge /// Congress MP Imran Masood //// Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera /// Congress leader Salman Khurshid //// Samajwadi Party MP Afzal Ansari /// PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti //// Srinagar MP Ruhullah Mehdi //// Ladakh MP Haji Hanifa and Jain monk Acharya Lokesh Muni.
The Congress party may send the head of its foreign affairs department, Salman Khurshid, to Ayatollah Khamenei’s funeral ceremony. At the same time, PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti has also said that she will travel to Iran to pay tribute to Khamenei. According to PTI, the funeral rites related to Khamenei will take place from July 5 to 9. Events connected with the funeral will be held on July 5, 6, and 7 in Tehran and Qom, while the final ceremony will take place on July 9 in the city of Mashhad.(UPDATED ON 2ND JULY 2026)
