Global Expansion Of Yogasana Sports Will Create New Possibilities & Career

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said Yoga is India’s timeless gift to humanity. Virtually joining the inaugural edition of the World Yogasana Sports Championship, being held at the Eka Arena in Ahmedabad, the Prime Minister said Yoga units mind, body and spirit, and inspires a healthier and more harmonious world.


The Prime Minister today expressed confidence that the maiden World Yoga Championship will give Yogasan a global sports identity and open up a wide range of opportunities for the youth. Mr Modi highlighted that every major sport brings along its own comprehensive ecosystem. He stated that as Yogasan sports expand globally, it will create significant new possibilities and career paths for athletes. Furthermore, Mr. Modi emphasized that this expansion will generate diverse opportunities for trainers, sports scientists, researchers, and event managers in the coming days.


Mr. Modi said that people worldwide are looking for solutions that keep them healthy and active for a long time, and Yoga serves as the most suitable option. Giving the mantra of “Yoga will drive away all diseases every day,” the Prime Minister highlighted that the Ministry of Ayush has launched the ‘Yoga 365’ campaign to carry this vision forward.
Urging the participating athletes to become ambassadors of the ‘Yoga 365’ initiative, Mr. Modi called upon them to take the message of Yoga back to their respective countries. Encouraging the players, the Prime Minister remarked that regardless of who wins the competition, everyone has already become a champion by being a part of this historic chapter. Supported by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, the Ministry of Ayush, and the Sports Authority of India, this landmark event marks a major milestone in turning Yogasana into a globally competitive sport with Olympic ambitions.(UPDATED ON 4TH JUNE 2026)
