PM Modi Lauds Italian Painter For His Work On Indian Culture

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has lauded Italian painter Giampaolo Tomassetti for his work on Indian culture.

In a social media post, Mr Modi said that the artist presented his work on Varanasi during his visit to Rome. The Prime Minister said that Mr Tomassetti’s passion for Indian culture spans over four decades. He informed that the Italian painter began his journey as an illustrator for books on Vedic culture in the 1980s. He added that between 2008 and 2013, Mr Tomassetti worked on 23 large paintings based on the Mahabharata.

In another post, Prime Minister Modi appreciated the passion of five Italians for Indian dance forms. He said it is wonderful to see Indian dance forms drawing global interest. He also said that Indian music is becoming increasingly popular in Italy.

The Prime Minister highlighted that during the community welcome in Rome last evening, five Italian artistes performed the Hamsadhwani.(UPDATED ON 20TH MAY 2026)
