7 elected unopposed from Maharashtra

All 7 candidates for Rajya Sabha elections from Maharashtra have been elected unopposed.Six candidates of the ruling Mahayuti alliance, including Union Minister Ramdas Athawale and BJP General Secretary Vinod Tawde, and opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi candidate Sharad Pawar were elected unopposed to the Rajya Sabha from Maharashtra on Monday.These candidates also include Parth Pawar, son of former Deputy CM Ajit Pawar.
Seven candidates were running for the same seven Rajya Sabha seats. All of them were elected to the upper house of Parliament without any election. March 9 was the last date for withdrawal of nominations. On Thursday, March 5, the last day for filing nominations for the seven seats in Maharashtra that will fall vacant in April, only seven candidates filed their papers at the Vidhan Bhavan in Mumbai.
Besides Athawale and Tawde, the BJP has fielded two more candidates, Ramrao Wadkute and Maya Ivnate, who was once considered close to Sharad Pawar.Before joining the BJP, he was elected to the state Legislative Council with Pawar’s support. Ivnate is a former mayor of Nagpur and has a tribal background. Jyoti Waghmare, a spokesperson for the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena, has also reached the Rajya Sabha..(UPDATED ON 9TH MARCH 2026)
