Modi and Shah congratulates team–India Script History, T20 World Cup 2026 Triumph

India completely outplayed New Zealand to clinch the T20 World Cup 2026 title at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday. It was a sensational performance by the Suryakumar Yadav-led side, as Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma provided the perfect start with half-centuries, while Jasprit Bumrah took four wickets to leave New Zealand completely stunned.Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah congratulated the team.

Chasing 256, New Zealand were bundled out for just 159 as India registered a comprehensive 96-run victory. With this win, India became the first team in history to win the T20 World Cup title three times. They also became the first team to win the trophy at home and the first side to defend the title, having won the T20 World Cup back in 2024 as well.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday congratulated the Indian cricket team for their emphatic victory in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, calling it a display of “exceptional skills, determination and teamwork”.

“Champions! Congratulations to the Indian team on winning the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup! This remarkable triumph reflects exceptional skills, determination and teamwork. They have shown outstanding grit through the tournament. This victory has filled every Indian heart with pride and joy. Well done, Team India!” PM Modi said in a post on X.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah took to Twitter to congratulate Team India after their commanding 61-run victory over Pakistan in T20 WC match. He captioned the post, “Well played #TeamIndia 👏 Formats, places, and dates may change, but the result of #IndvsPak remains consistent. Congratulations to the entire team.
