Bihar CM Nitish Kumar Files Nomination Papers For Rajya Sabha Elections

Chief Minister of Bihar Nitish Kumar filed his nomination papers today for the Rajya Sabha elections. During the nomination process, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP National President Nitin Naveen, Union Ministers Rajiv Ranjan Singh and Jitan Ram Manjhi, Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha and other senior leaders were present.
In the morning, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, in a social media post, said that he would be contesting for a seat in the Rajya Sabha. He said, after being a member of both Houses of the Bihar Legislative Assembly and the Lok Sabha, he had also wished to become a member of the Upper House. He assured the people of Bihar that his connection with the state would continue in the future as well. The Chief Minister also said that he would extend full support and guidance to the new government of Bihar.
Meanwhile, for the Rajya Sabha elections, BJP National President Nitin Naveen and the party’s state general secretary Shivesh Kumar also filed their nomination papers today. On the other hand, Ramnath Thakur from Janata Dal (United) and Upendra Kushwaha, chief of Rashtriya Lok Morcha, also submitted their nomination papers.
Scrutiny of nomination papers for the Rajya Sabha elections for five seats from Bihar will take place tomorrow. Candidates can withdraw their nominations by the 9th of this month, and voting for these seats will be held on 16th March.(UPDATED ON 5TH MARCH 2026
