Research Must Translate Into Jobs, Startups And Societal Benefit

Science and Technology Minister Dr Jitendra Singh today said that scientific programmes must increasingly be assessed and communicated in terms of their real-world impact, including contribution to employment generation and societal well-being. The Minister said this while chairing a high-level review meeting of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, CSIR, in New Delhi.

During the meeting, Dr Singh highlighted that the focus should be on conveying how laboratory-led innovations are translating into tangible benefits on the ground. The Minister also stressed that scientific research must translate into jobs, startups and societal benefit.

Dr Singh also called upon all the 37 laboratories of CSIR across the country to play a proactive role in showcasing their achievements by engaging directly with media, stakeholders, industry, and local communities.(updated o 7th january 26)
